Install Litria on a Mac
Litria for Mac is one app for Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. macOS asks you to confirm it the first time you open it, and this page shows how.
Install it
- Download Litria-macos-universal.dmg with the button above, or from the Download section of the homepage.
- Open the downloaded file. A window shows Litria beside your Applications folder.
- Drag Litria onto Applications, then eject the Litria disk image.
Open it the first time
Open Litria from Applications. The first time, macOS stops it with “Litria” Not Opened, or on older versions with “Litria” cannot be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software. Click Done or OK, then:
- Open System Settings and choose Privacy & Security.
- Scroll down to Security, where macOS names Litria as blocked, and click Open Anyway.
- Click Open Anyway again in the dialog that follows, and enter your password when asked. From then on Litria opens like any other app.
On macOS 14 Sonoma or older
You can also Control-click Litria in Applications, choose Open, and click Open in the dialog that follows.
“Litria is damaged and can’t be opened”
If macOS says this instead, the app is not broken: macOS has quarantined the download. Open Terminal, run this command, then open Litria again:
xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/Litria.appWhy macOS asks
macOS opens an app without these steps once Apple has notarized it, which takes an Apple Developer account Litria doesn't have yet. Until then macOS can't tell who made the app, so it asks you once.
For the same reason, Litria can't update itself on a Mac. When a new version is out, the app tells you and opens the download, and you install it the same way.
